Sign Fabricator/Maker

The Sign Fabricator/Maker will be responsible for manufacturing custom architectural signage and structural elements according to design specifications and quality standards. This hands-on role requires technical skill, precision, and the ability to work with various materials and equipment to produce exceptional signage products and supporting structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate a wide range of custom signage products including dimensional letters, panels, wayfinding systems, and ADA-compliant signage

  • Construct supporting frameworks, mounting systems, and structural components for signs

  • Design and fabricate custom sign structures including monument signs, pylons, and architectural elements

  • Perform welding operations (MIG, TIG, and stick) on various metals including aluminum and steel

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders

  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble various materials including acrylic, aluminum, wood, PVC, steel, and composites

  • Operate fabrication equipment such as CNC routers, laser cutters, vinyl plotters, digital printers, and metal fabrication tools

  • Perform finishing operations including sanding, painting, and laminating

  • Assemble sign components and structures using appropriate fasteners, adhesives, and welding techniques

  • Fabricate and integrate structural elements that meet engineering specifications and building codes

  • Conduct quality checks throughout the fabrication process

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Properly maintain tools and equipment

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

  • Collaborate with design and installation teams to ensure product quality and client satisfaction

  • Suggest improvements to fabrication processes and techniques

Qualifications

  • Curious mind

  • Creative problem solver

  • 2+ years of experience in sign fabrication or related manufacturing field

  • Knowledge of various fabrication techniques and best practices for a variety of materials including acrylic, aluminum, wood, steel, plastics, and composites

  • Proficiency with fabrication tools and equipment including metal fabrication tools

  • Basic understanding of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques) on aluminum and steel

  • Knowledge of finishing techniques for different materials

  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring for low-voltage, illuminated signage preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Manual dexterity for operating tools and handling materials

  • Visual acuity for detailed work and color matching

Work Hours & Compensation

  • Full-time position: Hours

  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines

  • Pay rate:  per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level

  • Benefits package includes health insurance, 401(k), paid vacation, sick, and holiday time.
