Designer/Design Engineer

The designer/design engineer should be comfortable using Adobe Illustrator, 3D cad software (Fusion 360 preferred) and has a familiarity with “the built environment.”

Working alongside the senior designers, the designer/design engineer will work to draw signage in elevation/plan views with measurements and annotations/specifications as well as detailed construction documents in 3D. Much will be outlined in “design intent” documents which the designer must be comfortable reading and discussing.

The designer/design engineer is to be responsible for drawing packages of signs, and updating these packages based on client feedback and new conditions. They are the one to properly detail complex 3D geometries and should be able to properly communicate to the fabricators in order to learn how they things detailed. Working with project managers, fabricators, painters, graphic technicians as well as salespeople the designer/design engineer will be the keeper of project specifications and may be called upon to participate in team meetings or planning sessions.

An ideal candidate would be familiar with CAD Tools (for Adobe Illustrator), 3D design software and general building/signage code info (IBC, IFC etc.) Industrial Design experience or degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering a plus. Previous experience in signage industry is a benefit but is not required. Experience drawing technically is essential. Being able to think and communicate in 3D is a must.

•  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year College or technical school

•  Positive attitude, flexibility, and resilience facing constant change and tight deadlines

•  Punctuality and attendance are crucial

•  Availability for overtime and occasional weekend work

•  Ability to take direction and be open to learning

•  Valid driver’s license

•  Reliable transportation

•  Ability to pass a background check, drug test and physical exam
